About us

The Belgian House was founded in 2018 by Marianne, Ines and Emily. We represent Belgian design and their designers in North America.

Belgium is located in the centre of Europe and has the unique opportunity to absorb the best aspects of design from neighbouring countries to bring a playful and unique result. Whether it is Scandinavian minimalism, to French rustic elegant style or Italian edgy-chic.

Our team

Marianne is the founder, driver and creative force of The Belgian House. She started a career as a business lawyer in Belgium but finally gave in to her passion when she immigrated to Canada in 2018. The dream of promoting and representing great design has become reality through TBH. Marianne develops meaningful relationships with her clients as well as her vendors and practices utmost caution when selecting products for her portfolio.

Marianne also serves as President and Co-founder of the Belgian Business Club.

Pioneering the move to Vancouver, Ines co-founded The Belgian House together with Marianne in 2018. She works closely with Marianne in all aspects of the business since founding the company.

As a business engineering graduate of the University of Leuven and a business consultant in her own right. Emily serves as Marketing Manager of The Belgian House. From Instagram posts to our newest website, Emily is making it easier for us to connect to you.

Our values

We love to live in a world surrounded by beautiful things, that’s why we believe, besides in the beauty of art, but also in the beauty of everyday objects. Objects that are not only made to look at but also to use and add personality. We also stand for quality, but quality can be defined in many different ways. For us, it doesn’t only mean durability or an amazing design but also stands for usability.

We continually strive for authentic designs. What does this mean? We believe authentic design should be based on a unique idea and/or concept. The process that goes before and during the creation of the product is a creative one that will lead to new and unique results that are not aimed at making money.
